Mahendra Singh Dhoni is also popularly known as MSD or MS or Dhoni among cricket fans and team mates. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the most popular and successful captain of Indian cricket team. Under his captain ship, team Indian has won all the major international cricket tournaments like ICC T20 world cup (Inaugural world cup in 2008), ICC world cup (2011) and ICC Champions Trophy (2013), Asia Cup (2010 and 2011). Apart from that it was only under his captain ship that team India achieved number rankings in test cricket.
He is a wicket keep and right hand batsmen. As batsmen he is known for his hard hitting, helicopter shot and taking the match to the last overs. Given his batting abilities many cricket experts think he should bat higher in the batting order but I think MS Dhoni loves batting in the lower middle order. However at time Dhoni promoted himself higher in the batting order as well e.g. in the final of 2011 world cup against Sri Lanka, he promoted himself ahead of the inform Yuvraj Singh. He is known as captain cool as he is never seen losing his cool at the ground and also sometime he took some extraordinary decisions on the ground that many experts might consider as being suicidal like him giving the final over to Joginder Sharma in the final of T20 world cup against Pakistan, where there were overs left for senior and experienced bowlers. However since his strategy works and he is never afraid of taking risks combined with the backing & giving full support to the team members, Dhoni is no doubt loved by his fans and critics equally.
M.S. Dhoni was born on 7th July 1981 in Ranchi, Bihar (now in Jharkhand). He is the key batsman of Indian cricket team. As an attacking batsman he uses to play fast at the later stage of the game, that’s why he is one of the greatest finishers in limited over cricket. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in December 2004 and made a test debut in 2005 against Sri Lanka. M.S.Dhoni has captained Indian cricket team in all formats of the games with huge success. Few people criticize him for his lack of skills and technique for test cricket. Recently he had some poor performances in test cricket and he is the captain with most overseas defeats in test cricket. This record is something that couldn’t be improved by Dhoni.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni also leads the Chennai Super Kings team in IPL and he is with the team since the opening season of IPL. He has great success in IPL as well, winning it two times and leading the team of play offs all the times.
As of today (17-May-14) Dhoni has played 243 ODI, 83 Test and 43 T20 matches. He has won 6 man of the series and 18 of the match awards. Dhoni has scored 9 centuries in ODI and 6 centuries in test. His highest individual score in ODI cricket is 183 not out against Sri Lanka at Swai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
Dhoni is also the most successful wicket keeper for India and holds the record of most dismissals by an Indian wicket-keeper in a test matches. He is also only Indian wicker keeper batsmen to complete 4000 runs in test cricket.
