Quarter Final Match Today - ICC Cricket World Cup

Well this quarter final between South Africa and New Zealand also turned out to be a great match won easily by New Zealand despite posting a low score of 221. South African cricket team will once again carry the tag of chokers. It is surprising that a team of the levels of South Africa has never ever win any knock out match in the world cup.

At the same time New Zealand cricket team has entered the semi finals for the sixth time. The winner of the today's match between Sri Lanka and England will take on New Zealand in the first semi final match of the world cup on Tuesday March 29 whereas the second semi final will be played between India and Pakistan on the next day at Mohali Cricket Stadium in Mohali, Punjab.

Till the last half an hour of the match it was hard to decide which team is going to win the match and no doubt Australia looked better in most of the match but 2 over is a row that cost 25 runs to Australia changed the game. Not only they eased the pressure off for both Yuvraj and Suresh Raina but also bring the required run rate under 6 runs.

It was third man of the match for Yuvraj Singh in this world cup and he is having a wonderful world cup so far. He has been second highest wicket taker for India in the world cup after Zaheer Khan and he has batted sensibly also. So far he has got more than 300 runs in the tournament. Even Suresh Raina proved that his inclusion for today s match was not wrong. The only thing that went wrong for India today and which might be an area of concern to the think tank is the bowling of Munaf Patel. Munaf is neither picking up wicket nor containing the batsmen. It might be good if Indian cricket team can take risk in including Sreesanth who played only single match in the world cup so far.

Now it’s confirmed that India will play Pakistan in the semi-final match at Mohali on 30th March.

Till then we have two more quarter finals and important one comes tomorrow between South Africa and New Zealand at Dhaka. New Zealand has been responsible for sending South Africa out of the world cup tournaments in the past but this time South Africa seem to have learned from their past and it looks more balanced team now. World Cup Quarter Final - Australia Vs India Live

First quarter final between Pakistan and West Indies was a one sided game easily won by Pakistan. Only winning the toss was the last thing happened well to the Caribbean team. There decision to bat first proved to be wrong when the team crashed to a low total but somehow surpassed the lowest total ever by West Indies. 112 runs just too short of a target for Pakistan. Pakistan won the match by 10 wickets.

Match 36 ICC World Cup 2011 - England v West Indies

Again a group B match in the world cup. All the remaining matches of group B will be interesting and you can say that virtually knock out stage has begun for group B. In Group A situation is clear about which team will qualify for the quarter finals. However in group B situation is totally different, there only one team has qualified for the quarter finals and remaining three will be decided in the do or die matches to come. In group B one of the team from India, Bangladesh, Wes Indies and England will be out of the tournament. Thus it is important for all the four teams to win the respective matches.

For Canada this is the last match of the world cup and perhaps they might want to win the last game for the nation.
