In the midst of IPL Ricky Ponting breaks test record

Its IPL, IPL and IPL everywhere in India and other majot cricket crazy nations. However in the midst of IPL mega events former Australian cricket team captain Ricky Ponting became the secong highest run scorer in test cricket. Playing in the test series against West Indies Ponting crossed the record which was once held by Rahul Dravid. Pontring crossed 13,288 runs in test cricket at the score of 23 and thus he is now the second highest run scorer in test matches. Since Rahul Dravid has retired from all form of international cricket Ponting is now behind to Sachin Tendulkar only. Sachin Tendulkar who is also celebrating his 39 birthday today is highest run getter in tests with 15,470 at the average of 55.44.

Ricky Ponting may have achieved a rare record but he is going in poor form in the series and has failed to get some good runs against West Indies in the ongoing series. This means that Ponting will once again be under pressure of retirement from tests.

In the IPL two matches will be played today, first between Delhi Deardevils and Pune Warriors at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune. Last time both the team played in IPL 5 at Delhi and Pune won the match by the match winning performance of the captain Saurav Ganguly. Hopefully Delhi will be looking to take the revenge along with maintaining the top position in the IPL points table.

Second match will be played between Kolkata Night Riders and Deccan Chargers. Deccan has been quiet unlucky team to loose all the 5 matches they have played so far, few of them were close ones. IPL T20 is all set to take the cricket crazy nation to the most popular and glamorized form of cricket called T20 or twenty twenty cricket. T20 cricket matches begin few years back but gain popularuity very quickly firstly in the form of ICC T20 world cup and later through various T20 leagues in cricket playing nations like Bangladesh, Australia and India etc. Indian T2o league championship is knwo as IPL or Indian Premier League. IPL is played in summers very year at various location throughout India form Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai to Pune etc.

This year IPL starts on April 4 and opening match will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai India at Chennai. Once the tournament begins we will have the chance to see at least one twenty twenty match every day till May 27th when the final match of the tournament will be played. Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders Continue Winning....

Yesterday Mumbai & Kolkata won their respective matches against Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings. Delhi rely completely on the captain Virendar Sehwag and moment he fails to bat well team collapses. He had got 2-3 victories for the team single handily but thats not T2o cricket all about. Perhaps Delhi teams management needs to sit down and do the home work for the next IPL season. Don't think I am harsh at Delhi team but frankly speaking they can't do much about IPL 4 and now they have to focus on IPL 5. Team needs some good hitting batsmen and bowler who can take quick wickets.

Mumbai and Kolkata both the teams are now sure of getting ofr the IPL playoffs (next round). Whereas Chennai, Hyderabad and Rajashtan will have to fight hard to get to the next round.

Today two matches will be played i.e.:

1. Bangalore v Kochi at Bangalore
2. Punjab v Pune at Mohali

And as I am going to watch the IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and Pune Warriors I'll not be able to post any IPL Match updates today. But perhaps I'll be posting wallpapers from the match. I've got tickets for this IPL match weeks in advance from the Box Office opened specially for IPL match tickets selling in Phase 9 near PCA cricket stadium Mohali. I'll be sitting in the Q-cinemas stand :)
