Mumbai enters Finals of the IPL 2015

Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings to qualify for the finals of the IPL 2015. Chennai team has got another chance to qualify for the finals as they will play the eliminator match against  at Ranchi. The opponent CSK will face is yet to be decided.  The winner of the another elliminator match today will procced to play against CSK team.

The two teams competing in the IPL eliminator match today are Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both the teams have played good T20 cricket and the match is going to be a close encounter. Though RCB batting line looks more powerful, we must not forget the man in form for Rajasthan Royals the opener Ajnkya Rahane. He had hold the orange cap for most of the time this IPL and he is all set for another great innings today.

You can watch all the live action at the scoreboard above. Do predict who will play against Mumbai Indians in the finals of IPL 2015.  You have the following options for the IPL final match this year:

  • Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super Kings
  • Mumbai Indians Vs Rajasthan Royals
  • Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
For me first options is most likely.

Orange & Purple cap holder in IPL 2015

Who holds the Orange cap in IPL

Who holds the Purple cap in IPL

Every IPL the most exciting thing to know apart from the match results and points table is who is holding the orange and purple cap currently in IPL. The orange and purple caps keep rotating heads throughout the season and in the end the deserving bowler and batsmen get the caps.

What is orange cap in IPL?
The orange cap is awarded to the batsmen who is the leading run scorer in the IPL. When each team has played a match the orange cap is given to the batsmen with most runs and he fields wearing that orange cap. If some other batsmen run tally in the tournament get past the current hold or orange cap, then the cap belongs to him. Thus the orange cap keeps rotating heads throughout the tournament and then then finally the orange cap winner in decided in the closing ceremony.

What is purple cap in IPL?
Like the orange cap the purple cap is for the leading wicket taker. The bowler with most number of wickets in IPL holds the cap until someone has more wickets than him.

IPL Matches Today - Live Score Updates

21-April-2015: Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals at Ahemdabad Today. Might be a change in ground could bring a change in fortune for Kings XI team.  A win a what Punjab team needs badly at this moment. However they are facing a team today, which is still undefeated in IPL 2015.  Rajasthan Royals are just playing very good T20 cricket at the moment and they have got all the thing at right place. Punjab on the other hand despite being  filled with talented and big name players and still to get the combination right. They are experimenting too much and I guess they should just keep the things simple and play batsmen in a role that suits them better.

20-April-2015: Today KKR will play against Delhi Daredevils. The DD team has got the momentum they have been missing so  far in IPL. They are now at 4 position in points table and a win today will ensure they will replace KKR team who is at number 3 positions. And if they win the match today with a better run rate the Delhi team might also replace CSK who is at number 2 in points table.

15-April-2015: 13:18 IST:
Today match is between the tournaments favorites Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils. The Punjab team has a very good performance last year and prior to that the Punjab team performance in IPL was almost similar to the opponents today. The Delhi Daredevils team has not got a good season in the history of IPL. This year the team has invested heavily and purchased Yuvraj Singh at a huge amount. Now its for Delhi team players to show that performance. The match begins at 8 pm at Pune and its most likely that Delhi is goind to loose this match. Lest wait and watch. Good luck to all.

Date: 13-April-2015 Time: 13:25 IST

Keep watching the live score above.

Glimpses of our posts in IPL 7
Yesterday Kings XI Punjab showed a great performance and posted 195 runs as target for Rajasthan Royals team. In the end Rajasthan Royal team managed to score 147 runs only and loosing the game by 48 runs. At one time it was looking that Kings Eleven Punjab will post a total of more than 200 or 225+ but last 5 overs they managed to score some 30 odd runs only, still the target was out of reach for the Rajasthan Royals team lead by Shane Warne.

Today we have 2 matches to be played in IPL. First match will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Kolkata and the second one will be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Mumbai.

Kolkata Kinght Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore: This is the first time in IPL history that Kolkata team is looking strong in papers and the fields both, otherwise right from the beginning of the IPL Kolkata team has looked stronger in the papers but ended in the bottom of the points table. This is the first time that team looks to be doing good in points table as well. As far as the todays match is concerned its Royal Challengers team which would be more under pressure to win the match they are already in the bottom 2 of the points table and they need a couple of wins badly to make a comeback in the tournament. Kolkata on the other hand are at the top of points table but they lost the last match to Kochi Tuskers, thus they need to win this match so as to remain in the top of the points table.

Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super Kings: Mumbai Indians lost to Chennai Super Kings in the finals of the last year IPL and this time Mumbai must be looking forward to beat Chennai, this win can make Mumbai Indian secure the top position in points table, where as Chennai if wins can make into the top 4.

IPL Matches today might decide top 4 to qualify

Two matches will be played to day in IPL and it includes 3 team who are struggling to make it to the top 4 in the points table. The forth team is one of the title favorites Kings XI Punjab. Here are the IPL matches to be played today:

  1. Sun Risers Hyderabad Vs Kings XI Punjab at Hyderabad, 4 pm onwards
  2. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians at Cuttack, 8 pm onwards
Victory is crucial here for all the teams, Kings XI Punjab if wins here will regain number 1 position from Chennai Super Kings. Hyderabad on the other hand will gain 2 more points and reach the top 4. However that position can be quickly taken by KKR if the manage to defeat the Mumbai team.

If Mumbai Indians win they still have very less chances of making it to the play offs. Still nothing can be said till league stage matches are over. Most of the teams still have 4-5 games left and consecutive wins or loses can change the teams fortune in IPL.

IPL 7 points table - Team points tally in IPL 2014

Hi all,

Here is the updated point table for IPL 2014.  As you must be aware of the IPL schedule each team will play around 14 group stage matches and the the top 4 team from the point table below will qualify for the play offs There is no change in the play offs, the top 2 team will play the first play off match and the winner will qualify for the finals. Whereas the losing team will play against the winner of play off second i.e. teams ranked 3,4 in points table for another chance to qualify for the finals.

Who will stop Kings XI Punjab in IPL7

Kings Xi team so far has no so exciting outings in IPL history but they have made a very solid start in IPL this year. They have won all the first three matches they played so far  by chasing 200+ against CSK, 190+ against Rajasthan Royals and then defeating Sunrisers Hyderadbad easily yesterday.

Everyone is talking about how solid batting line Punjab have got and who will stop the Kings Xi team this year. The answer is simple anyone who can stop the big hitter and holder of the orange cap Glenn Maxwell can win the game against Kings XI easily. Thus other teams who will play Kings XI in the remaining part of the tournament need to do the home work on how to handle the brutal attack of Maxwell. Apart from Maxwell, David Miller is another threat for the teams. Punjab team on the other hand need to improve the opening attach so that there isn't much competition for the middle order. The other area of concern for Punjab is a weak balling attack, they certainly need to improve this area.

The next match Kins XI team will play is again a solid Kolkata Knight Riders, the batting of KKR is not so nice but they have got a lethal balling attack. KKR and RCB are the two teams I expect to defeat the Kings XI team. Bit given the form of the Maxwell and Miller it seems like this year Kings XI team could have the longest unbeaten streak in the history of IPL and also lift the title.

My best wishes to the Kings XI team and special best wishes for the openers Pujara and Sehwag looking for a opening stand from them that could last for minimum 10 overs.

IPL Match Chennai Super Kings v Kings XI Punjab

I hope you enjoyed the first two matches of IPL season 7. The first match between KKR and Mumbai Indians marked the opening of the IPL 2014 on 16th followed by another exciting IPL Match at Sharjah on 17th.

IPL match today is important specially for the Kings XI Punjab and the explosive batsmen Virendar Sehwag. A good start to the tournament can not only help Kings XI team to race to the knock our for the first time but also help Sehwag mark a comeback to the Indian team and hopefully play the 2015 ICC world cup.

The opponents Chennai Supper Kings are the most successful team of IPL having been played the IPL finals for maximum numbers and also Super Kings are the only team to win the title more than once. Kings XI on the other hand don't had a nice journey of IPL so far in six season, hopefully seventh season may prove lucky for the team.

Best past of Kings XI is that they have got players from the defending champions Mumbai this time, Mitchell Johnson and Glenn Maxwell. Both these players can make a solid contribution to the success of the team.

Chennai on the other hand have issues like match fixing etc however they have the captain cool who is not only the most successful captain of IPL but one of the most successful captains of Indian cricket team.

IPL 2014 Opening Ceremony - No Break - After T20 World Cup Enjoy IPL Now

We enjoyed the T20 cricket in the ICC T20 world cup 2014 and before the hangover was over its time to switch to the most popular T20 cricket league called the IPL. This is no doubt the most popular form of cricket that drives fans crazy. This year IPL is played in two phases, one in UAE and one in India.

Elections for Lok Sabha in India during April & May is the reason to host a part of IPL in UAE (South Africa and Bangladesh were also preferred choices but UAE was the lucky destination). The seventh season of IPL or we can say IPL-7 will also be little bit different this time and there won't be extravagant opening ceremony like the previous seasons of the league.  This year it'd be  a gala dinner only on April 15th. The dinner is hosted by Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan son of Sheikh of Abu Dhabi. Dinner would be hosted at Emirates Palace to be attended by various celebrities from Bollywood and VIP guests.  But the extravagant opening ceremonies are not what fans like in IPL, its cricket, the sixes, the wickets and the excitement in each and every delivery that drives the cricket fans crazy. I personaly have never watched any IPL opening ceremony so far but I've never missed any opening and closing match. In between the opening and final match of IPL I've watched the games of team I've supported always the Mumbai Indians. But since this time Sachin Tendualkar in not playing for Mumbai I'd be supporting my home team the Kings XI Punjab this time, hopefully they'll have a good season this time.

So be prepared for another exciting round of T20 cricket, let the fever of twenty twenty caught the world again for another couple of months.  Please also keep checking some famous quotes from IPL at this post.

IPL 2014 Auctions & Players costs

Auctions for the IPL 2014 will be held in Bangalore on the 12th and 13th of this month and some lucky champs might have the best Valentines Day to celebrate with their love on the next day when IPL auctions are over.  Originally there were 895 players (consisting on both capped and uncapped players from across the globe) available for the auctions, the list was trimmed down to 514 players by the IPL governing body. Among the 514 players that will go to the auctions now include 219 capped players and 295 uncapped players.

Unlike the previous IPL auctions, this time the currency for the auctions would be INR (Indian Rupee). Also this would the first time that uncapped players are considered for the auctions and its more likely that the capped players would be auctioned on day one and uncapped on day two.

No doubt getting the list here is an achievement in itself still there are few lucky ones who will get to the chance to participate in the IPL 2014. For me there are few players who would be in the close observation for the team managements in the bidding process and those are:

Robin Uthappa
Shakib Al Hasan
Irfan Pathan
Ravi Rampaul
Mohammad Shami
Corey Anderson
Ryan Ten Doeschate
Kevin O'Brien
Unmukt Chand
Tino Best
Darren Bravo
Kevin Pietersen
Virender Sehwag
Yuvraj Singh
Murali Vijay

Chances are there that this IPL might be played outside India given there could be security concerns due to the upcoming elections.

Best wishes to all the 514 players going for the auctions.
