Titans Clash Again - India Vs Pakistan in Champions Trophy Match Live

Champions League Twenty20 & Australia tour of Sri Lanka Updates

In my last post about retirement of Rahul Dravid from One day international cricket matches, it felt like that I'll have to wait for a long time to watch him play cricket as team India next test match series yet have few months to go. Perhaps he will be available for the India Vs Australia matches in December.

Since Dravid is not a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore this years other wise we can have him watch playing in Champions League Twenty20 series that began today. However I am sure he will be available for another season of IPL at least.

Today in Champions League Twenty20 qualifiers two matched were played i.e.:

1. Auckland v Kolkata Knight Riders - KKR pulled out a win by just 2 runs defending a small total of 121 runs. Perhaps it was hard luck of Auckland who were once looking as they were win the match bu huge margin and thus can get big net run rate advantage. But few runo outs and inability to play slower bowlers well turned the match in KKR's favor.
   
2. Ruhuna v Trinidad & Tobago - T&T wun the match against Sri Lanka's team Ruhuna by 5 wickets. Trinidad & Tobago had a good Champions League Twenty20 season last time also and it seems they will do well this time as well. May be some players from this team will play in IPL next year as well.
   

Now coming to Australia vs Sri Lanka test match the match seems to be headed towards a draw. Australia lead by 52 runs with 7 wickets remaining at stumps on day 4 thus only one days play left we can expect an early close of the match if both captain agree.

Champions Trophy final - AUS Vs NZ

New Zealand will play Australia in the final after defeating Pakistan in the semi final. The underdogs will now have to defeat the favorites to clinch the title and take home two-million-dollar with the ICC Champions trophy in the final at Centurion. All the best to New Zealand's cricket to win the champions trophy as they haven't won any major international tournament despite very good players in the team.

Yesterday match between India and Australia was washed out due to rain. both team share one point and this can cause India's exit from the tournament. Now India chances are on the match between Australia and Pakistan If Pakistan win and India defeat Wes Indies by a hug margin then only India can proceed to the next round.

Well you the most awaited match of the ICC champions trophy is in progress. India has been given the target of 303 runs by Pakistan. Gautam Gambhir fir for Champions Trophy

Good news for team India and Indian cricket team fans, Gautam Gambhir who missed the recent Sri Lanka tour has cleared the fitness test and will now play in the ICC Champions trophy begining in September 22. Indian team will leave for South Africa where tournament will be played and will play the first match against arch rivals Pakistan on September 26.

Vinod Kambli the former Indian cricketer who had surprised world with double centuries in his third and fourth tests today made official retirement from international cricket. Though Kambli said he will be available for domestic tournaments. Kambli made the retirement announcement at the opening ceremony of his sports academy, Khel Bharati.

In a most surprising news for all Indian cricket selectors have selected the WALL Rahul Dravid for upcoming champions trophy and the Sri Lanks tri series. Champions trophy is being held up in socuth Africa and Dravids experience and technique strongly require him to be in the Indian crickte team for champions trophy. apart from Dravid master blaster Sachin tendulakr makes a comeback to the tournament.

Champions Trophy 2009 to be held in South Africa

South Africa will host the ICC Champions Trophy for the year 2009. The tournament will be played between September 24 to October 5. The Champions Trophy was originally scheduled to be held in Pakistan in 2008 but it was postponed to 2009 because of problems regarding security. In February 2009, the ICC removed the tournament from Pakistan because of safety concerns and said that Sri Lanka, which was the reserve venue, would be the host. However, in March, the ICC's chief executives committee recommended that the Champions Trophy be shifted to South Africa following concerns over weather conditions in Sri Lanka in September.

Champions Trophy : Tournament schedule - BCCI backs pakistan

Though South African cricket team opted out of the Champions trophy scheduled to be held in Pakistan because of the security concerns, Indian cricket board BCCI conveyed full support to the cricketing rivals Pakistan. BCCI is in the favor of Champions trophy to be held in the neighboring Pakistan. BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah while supporting Pakistan urged other cricket boards to trust the security assurances given by the PCB and the government. "We are supporting Pakistan. I think everything depends on Pakistan and on what are the concerns about security. If they say everything is OK and the tournament can be held as per the schedule then we are with them," Shah told Geo News.
