India & South Africa Announces preliminary 30 men squad for world cup

Both India and South Africa cricket boards have announced the list of 30 probables for the world cup. While India have given preferences to young players with current good form and excluded many experienced players who were part of 2011 world cup winning team. South African cricket squad of 30 probables on the other hand looks quiet balanced and experienced.

Here is list of 30 probables for South Africa:

2013 first day of cricket on Jan 3

Cricketing worlds will start the new year on Jan 3, 2013 with two interesting matches being played on the day. Sri Lanka will play third and the final test against Australia on Jan 3 and on the same day Indian will face Pakistan in the second one day international (ODI)  match of the three match series.

Both India and Sri Lanka are behind in their respective series. Sri Lanka already lost the series and all they can do now is to keep the defeat margin to 2-1, 2-0. Ausralia on the other hand wil try to go by their reputation and win the series by clean sweep i.e. 3-0.

Now if we analyze the India Pakistan series, the Pakistan team is looking strong here and its 90% likely that Pakistan will win the series as they need to win only one of the remaining two matches. India can only hope for a dramatic change in the fortunes that can lead them to win the remaining two matches.

Still there is one day left for all the teams to make the strategies for the matches. I'd like to wish all the cricket fans in this world a very happy new year. Hopefully we will see more interesting matches in 2013 and I am expecting a handful of players declaring retirements from International cricket.

Boxing Day Test Series – Test Match 2

India will play second test match of the 4 match Gavaskar Border test series (also called Boxing Day test series) tomorrow at SCG (Sydney cricket ground). According the curators the pitch conditions will be beneficial to both the teams. Its means, we can expect both Indian spinners and Australian speed bowlers to pick up wickets.

Historically this ground has been lucky or team India and they have won a couple of matches here. This is the same venue where Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Aymonds have some firing moments at the ground and allegation of racial comments etc after that. Coincidently both the players are not playing in this series. Among Indian batsmen VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar have shown excellent batting record here. Sachin has even scored a double hundred here.

Now let’s discuss something about the most awaited century. If Sachin Tendulkar scores a test hundred in this match it would be a golden not because it is the 100^th test century by the little master but also because it will be scored in the 100^th test match played at the Sydney cricket ground.

India look for Test Series Clean sweep against West Indies

India have won the test series against West Indies by wining the second test match and Eden gardens Kolkata. However for both the teams it is a right opportunity to improve the performance levels and go to test series with a positive frame of mind.

Specially West Indies need a draw or win in the third and the final test match that begins 22-Nov at Mumbai. We can hope to see a completely different West Indies team in the ODI series with players like K. Pollard joining the team. Yes I must mention that India will not play Yuvraj Singh in the final test match. Thus a setback for Yuvraj who wants to establish himself as a test cricketer. Perhaps he can focus on domestive test cricket for some time. He is a wonderful player for shorter version and theres no doubt about it.

For India I am not sure but a clean sweep can be little helpful for them to improve the test rankings. Still getting back the Numero Uno position is very far and difficult journey.

Now a quick summary of cricket from other parts of the world:

• South Africa Vs Australia: Match is going in interesting phase on day 4 with Australia picking 4 quick wickets and mark a comeback in the test match. Still South Africa lead by 264 runs and have 3 wickets in hand which means if they manage to take the lead for more than 300 runs match will be evenly balanced.
• Pakistan Vs Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka need to win the match number 4 of the series to stay alive in the series. Let wait and watch all the live action from few hours from now.
  

Cricket Updates & Preview of Second One Day Match India Vs England

Its a memorable match when you win by the batting efforts of batsmen number 8 & 9 however its very disappointing when you loose after picking 8 wickets and there are still around 60+ runs required by the opposition in a twenty twenty match. This is the beauty of the twenty twenty cricket, any player can turn to be a match winner. Same was the story of second T20 match between Australia and South Africa.

Bangladesh Vs West Indies ODI series: Though Bangladesh managed to score 200+ runs are loosing 3 wickets for less than 5 runs but that score wasn't enough and they lost the match along with the series. Bangladesh is now 2-0 behind in the 3 match series and the last match on 18 i sthe one they can play for a consolidation win and to go positive into the test match series against West Indies.

India Vs England 2nd ODI: Though India won the first one day match by a big margin there is still a long way to go in the series and England can bounce back any time. One thing is guaranteed if England didn;t manage to win the second ODI cricket match tomorrow at Delhi, then the series lost is impossible to save.

England Look for clean Sweep - India Vs England Live Test Match

England team already won the series, achieve number one rankings in ICC test rankings and leading series 3-0. Imagin what frame of mind the England team may be at this point of time, certainly they might be looking for winning the fouth and final test to make it a clean sweep. I'd no doubt about that.

On the other hand India cricket team is all lost, there's nothing good goin for them at the moment however if they need to be back in the number one position they had to begin the process by winning this test.

Latest update is that England won the toss and elected to bat first. Parveen Kumar is not playing for India and R.P Singh makes a comeback in the team after a gap of three years.

India has already won the tournament and is leading the 5 match series with 3-0. Thus many of the visitors this may not be a match worth watching, but realty is that the remaining 2 matches of the series will be more interesting than the previous 3.

Reason number one both the teams will have their own targets for the rest 2 matches, West Indies team will have to play to save the pride of the country and India will play for a clean sweep thus they can take the revenge of home series clean sweep defeat of the 70s.

Australia Vs Sri Lanka World Cup Match Preview

After the Pakistan and Sri Lanka game the tomorrows match between Sri Lanka and Australia is being considered to be one of the match that will test the real strength of the world cup favourites. For Sri Lanka this match is a must win match not only just to keep hopes for next round of the world cup alive but also to keep the team morale high. If Sri Lankan team loses the match to Australia then I can definitely say world cup is not for this Sri Lankan team. On the other hand for Australia the match will be the real test of the batting and bowling skills against the team in the sub-continent.

No doubt tomorrows match will also decide the fate for Australian fourth consecutive world cup title. Lasith Malinga, Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis are three top guns in bowling Sri Lanka have, I am not sure how many of Australian batsmen will have any special plans to handle the 30 overs to be bowled by these three bowlers.

Though Australia have won the matches against New Zealand and Zimbawe but one should keep in mind the fact that Ausralia lost both the warm up matches hey played against world cup favorties South Africa and India. Luckily for Ricky Ponting both the teams are not in the same group.

ICC World Cup 2011 gets insured for Rs 600 crore

Ahead of the cricket world cup this year in the Indian subcontinent, ESPN has taken insurance cover for the ICC World Cup 2011 for Rs. 600 crore.

New India Assurance will provide insurance cover against terror and adverse weather. BCCI will take additional insurance cover for all 8 Indian venues. The World Cup begins on February 19.

The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup will be the tenth Cricket World Cup, and will be hosted by three South Asian Test cricket playing countries; India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It will take place during the months of February and March 2011, with the first match being played on 19 February 2011.

29 matches out of 49 will be played in India including one quarterfinal, semi-final and final, 12 matches in Sri Lanka including one quarterfinal and semifinal and eight matches in Bangladesh including two quarterfinals.The tournament begins in Mirpur, Dhaka, on 19 February with the much-anticipated opener between co-hosts Bangladesh and India.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 News & Updates

Now all the teams are preparing for world cup and the domestic and international cricket tournaments of all the teams will be closely watched by all the selection committees of respective countries. This time I see West Indies as a good chance to win the wold cup, last they played world cup in Indian subcontinent they were unlucky to lost the knock out match. Apart from this India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka has the home advantage that all the three teams can capitalize. I can't say much about team India till the playing squad for cricket world cup is declared.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - Revised format for the world cup

The 2011 worl cup will have a new format, unlike the previous format that saw exit of asian teams India and Pakistan out of the tournament and caused low earnings. This time format is designed so that the major teams will stay longer and don't have an unlikely exit of main teams.

Total 14 teams will be participating which includes 10 test playing nations and Kenya (ODI status) and three qualified teams (Canada, Netherlands and Ireland). All fourteen teams are divided in two groups of 7 teams each:
Group A: Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Canada, Kenya
Group B: India, South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland and Netherlands

I hardly saw the major teams exiting from the group stage as top four team from both groups will qualify for the quarter finals. The winners of the quarterfinals would face off in the semi-finals, with the winners meeting in the grand final.

ICC World Cup 2011 and Umpire review system

The Internation Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the use of controversial umpire review system for the cricket world cup 2011. The rule had a mix reviewd from the players and the experts. It was also announced that the review system will be implemented in the test cricket also wherein each team can have the option of two referrals per innings. This means a total of 8 umpire decisions can be reffered to third upmire in a test match by the players.

Like previous world cup matches the world cup 2011 will have two pools of teams i.e. group A and group B.
Here are the team groupings:

Group A: Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Canada, Kenya.
Group B: Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland South Africa, West Indies, Netherlands.

ICC also pointed out a reductionin the number of teams playing in the future world cups.

India Beat Bangladesh 2-0

As predicted Gautam Gambhir will not have any chance of chasing a bit target and hence will not be able to equal Sir Don Dradman's record of 6 consecutive centuries in test cricket. The best part of thhis test series was Zaheer Khan getting Man of the match and man of the series award. Its very rare to see a bowler getting this award on batting friendly picthes.

Injuries are what India have got along with the winners trophy. Yuvraj Singh will be out got the first test match againse South Africa. Other players who got injured are Sreesanth, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid. Let see will the injuries cause any trouble for the indian cricket team for the comming series against South Africa. Five matches series and both team are leveld at 1-1. For Indian team cptin Dhoni will not play next two games this happened as a penality for slow over rate in the previous match againse Sri Lanka.

India v Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Kanpur, day 4

After giving Sri Lanka follow on India is on the threshhold of the vistory and take 1-0 lead in the series. Sri Lank still trail by 356 runs and 2 days play is remaining yet. Saddest part for Sri Lanka is they hav already lost 4 wickets at the score of 57 runs. I am pretty sure the match will survive till lunch only.

Gautam Gambhir fir for Champions Trophy

Good news for team India and Indian cricket team fans, Gautam Gambhir who missed the recent Sri Lanka tour has cleared the fitness test and will now play in the ICC Champions trophy begining in September 22. Indian team will leave for South Africa where tournament will be played and will play the first match against arch rivals Pakistan on September 26.
