Both teams played a couple of matches against each other few days back in the foreign land and pitches that they are not comfortable playing. Now they will play against each other in home like conditions in the opening match of the Asia cup 2012. Asia cup features Pakistan and Bangladesh and two other teams and is hosted by Bangladesh. Sri Lankan batsmen build the innings slowly and steadily now its all left on how they will play the last 10 overs. Current score for Sri Lanka is 180 for the loss of 4 wickets in 39 overs. Keeping in mind that 5 overs of batting power play are also left for Sri Lanka, if they play without lossing more than a couple of overs they can score a competitive total. Mathews, Mendis, Herath and Chamara Silva are not included in the playing 11 today and Perera, Randiv, Kulasekara and Chamara Kapugedera replace them for the finals.

Well Sehwag reached his century today and Tendulkar got dismissed on the very first over today. however middle order and tail ender batted really well taking Indian score to beyond Sri Lankan score. At the end of day Sri Lanka are 45 for 2.

Don't know when and where he will stop. Its hard to predict number of centuries, runs he will score before stopping. Today he stood against the Sri Lankan attack and I hope his test century number 48 will help India save the match. India now needs only 61 runs to avoid follow on.

In my last post Can India save first test match - India vs Sri Lanka I depicted India will hardly be able to save the test and things going as predicted. MS Dhoni hot out quickly, so did Harbhajan Singh, however VVS Laxman is still fighting the battle with some good support by Mithun and now by Ishant Sharma. By some good partner ships among these three India have avoided an innings defeat, this means Sri Lanka will have to bat again now, In case they are able to pick two wickets quickly.
My prediction was that if India batting can last for three session, so far they have survived till lunch with 70 runs lead. In case this pair and Ojha who is still to come can survive anothe 80 runs India can definitely save this test Match. One good thing I am looking is that Sangakara wants Muralitharan to complete 800 wickets so he is made to bowl longer spells and other bowlers didn't want to pick a wicket.

Well today it didn't rained and play started. Last days rains and stormed made favorable conditions for Indian seamers and they looked dangerous. But despite the early blog Sri Lakan score has gone past 400 runs and this can be alarming for team India. Currenty Sri Lanka is batting at Sri Lanka 419/7 (104.0 ov) . With another 50+ overs possible today it will a test of stron Indian batting line if they can save the match and India can only play for draw this time.

India Sri Lanka Test Series - India without main pace attack - Ruling out of main bowler Zaheer Khan alongith Sreeshanth due to injuries is the main concern of recently wed Indian cricket team Captain M S Dhoni. Adding to his worries is the news that main spinner Harbhajan Singh is suffering from fever and will miss the practice match. Hoever he is expected to be fit by the first test match. Bangldesh Tri Series - India Vs Sri Lanka
Well as said in my previous post, dew factor will be on the mind of both the captains. Now Sri Lanks do have upper hand in this match as Sangakkara has won the toss and decided to bol first. Now only thing India can do to boost chances of winning is to post a huge total of 300+ anyyhing around 260 to 270 will be very easy to chase, given the due factor. Worries for Sri Lanka are : Dilshan and Chamara Silva are injured and not playing. Lahiru Thirimanne will be making his debut as a makeshift opener (in Dilshan's place) and Thissara Perera will bat in the middle order.

This pitch is totally different from the others. Jaysurya just got out bt harbhajan Singh. Now its looking really difficult for Sri Lanka to get a really competitive total to chase for India and given the Indian batting line it will be difficult to defend a small total. May be the pitch not change the behaviour then SL bowlers have to do the task.

india have got to a good start by gettti early 2 wickets, Dilshan and Jaysurya both are back to the pavillion. However Sri Lanka is alos looking good ith 91 for 2 in 15 overs . Today Indian fielding is also not of International quality dropping 2 catches.
I think India has chnced of wining todays match as bowling may be difficult in the second half of the play.

Slow start for India
India lost two quick wickets but Sachin and Virat Kolhi has somehow managed to handle the innings. 12 overs has been bowled and India score is 53 for the loss of two wickets. If both these batsmen can lay down one good partnership so that other batsmen can boost the run rate later.
