Lasith Malinga to Undergo Ankle Surgery Before World CUp 2015

The leading strike bowler for Sri Lankan cricket team Lasith Malinga has to undergo an ankle surgery. Malings has been suffering from some problem with his ankle from quiet a long time. The orthopedic surgeon he has been consulting has advised the fast bowler that he must undergo a surgery reason being that the ankle has detoriated to the extent where surgery is the only treatment option. Methods like cortisone injections and load monitoring which has worked till now might not help any further.

This means the the surgery will keep Malinga out of action for around 16 weeks and he is expected to recover and be available for training in January.  Malinga said that he is hopeful and give his best to be fit and play for the team in the upcoming cricket world cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. "I will do everything I can to be back for the World Cup" is his statement to the press. However at the same time he suggested that Sri Lanka cricket board might groom some your fast bowler so that team has someone prepared to play in his absence.

According to physicians is everything goes well, the fast bowler can get a chance to play few games against New Zealand in Sri Lanka teams tour to NZ and find his form and fitness. Sri Lanka is to play the world cup opening match against New Zealand on Feb 14. See the complete match details of 2015 world cup here.

We wish Lasith all the best for the operation and hope he will recover quickly and play for Sri Lanka in the world cup. It'd be nice to see Malinga Slinga yorkers in world cup. Wonder what a slinga is take a look in the view below:

Can India save first test match - India vs Sri Lanka

Can India save first test match or will it be a winning farewell to the legendary spinner Muralitharan. I am not sure if India can save the test match or not but one thing is for guaranteed that Muthiah Muralitharan will retire from text cricket with 800+ wickets in his stats. Murali thinks only Harbhjan Sing can get closer to his records but he is not as consistent as the Sri Lankan offie, and none other bowler seems to be close to him, thus his record will stay longer.

Now comming to the match India is 63 suns behind the Sri Lankan score with only batting pair of Laxman and Dhoni left. Even if they get close to a 100 runs partnership then also its nothing for Sri Lanka to chase. Now only rain can draw the match for India or a rare partner ship or a long innings that last for atleast 3 sessions.

Stay tuned and watch the live score at http://icccricket.blogspot.com

Also you can catch a glimpse of Muralithan at your blog in the past:

Pakistani selectors announced the Pakistan's cricket team for Asia cup toournamnet starting next week and surprisingly they have dropped experienced wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal for the Asia Cup tournament.

Akmal was omitted from a list of 20 players picked to attend a short training camp, from which a 15-member squad will be named for the June 24-July 6 Asia cup tournament in Pakistan.

India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong are the other countries taking part.

"Kamran remains our number one keeper but we also wanted to give chances to others and we felt Kamran also deserved to take a well deserved rest," chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed told reporters.

Akmal who has played in 38 tests and 88 one-dayers, has been told to get over a extended period of inconsistent form behind the stumps.

The final squad is due to be named on June 22.

The selectors had no other surprises for the tournament although pacer Mohammad Asif will not take part as he remains in detention in Dubai on suspicion of carrying illegal drugs.
