Pakistan Take South Africa in a Must win match

Pakistan Take South Africa in a Must win match today. Instead this is a must win match for both the team because a victory here would make life little bit easier for the reaming Super Eight matches for both the team as both team will play against strong India and Australia later.

One thing everybody would love about the super eight matches in ICC Twenty Twenty world cup is that the super eights had made the tournament go live wire. Two matches were played yesterday and we saw T20 cricket magic at its peak. Match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was decided by a super over and Sri Lanka emerged as the winners here.  Second match between West Indies and England was also a close encounter. Though England has lost the match, the way England batsmen chased the score this might have given some tension to the management of Sri Lanka and New Zealand teams.

Let focus on the first match to be played between South Africa and Pakistan. I believe this will be the first tough match for the strong Pakistan team, that have a easy going in T20 world cup so far. Given that they have Australia and India to face later, Pakistan team might need to win this match at any cost. So far the batting of Pakistan team has been consistent and openers have given quick starts to the team, however this time they will face the likes of Dale Steyn and Morkel who are very lethal with the ball in T20 format.

Match is about to begin soon and you all can tune in to your TV sets for pre-match discussions or stay tune at this blog for live scoreboard.

Please note that another interesting match is to follow after this match where India and Australia will be face to face in another close T20 encounter.

T20 world cup warm up matches - Pakistan got to winning start

Pakistan got its campaign at the ICC World Twenty20 off to a winning start with a comfortable 68-run win over a Windward Islands X1 on Tuesday.

Mohammad Hafeez starred in Pakistan's total of 160-7 off 20 overs with an entertaining knock of 57 off 40 balls.

In reply the Windward Islands X1 struggled to reach 92-4 off 20 overs in the face of a strong Pakistan attack, who still managed to concede 11 wides.

Mohammad Aamer was arguably the pick of the bowlers with 1-13 off four overs, although wickets were shared around the side.

Shohaib Akhtar makes remarkable comeback to Pakistan team

The Shoaib Akhtar capped an ultimately inevitable but nevertheless remarkable comeback into the Pakistan side, being named in the 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy. The inclusion became inevitable only recently after various, protracted legal battles were semi-won and other fast bowlers suffered injuries or became embroiled in doping scandals; it is remarkable because only in April was he banned for five years by the board, his career seemingly over.

Aisa Cup June 2008 - Pakistan team announced - Kamran akmal out of the team

Pakistani selectors announced the Pakistan's cricket team for Asia cup toournamnet starting next week and surprisingly they have dropped experienced wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal for the Asia Cup tournament.

Akmal was omitted from a list of 20 players picked to attend a short training camp, from which a 15-member squad will be named for the June 24-July 6 Asia cup tournament in Pakistan.

India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong are the other countries taking part.

"Kamran remains our number one keeper but we also wanted to give chances to others and we felt Kamran also deserved to take a well deserved rest," chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed told reporters.

Akmal who has played in 38 tests and 88 one-dayers, has been told to get over a extended period of inconsistent form behind the stumps.

The final squad is due to be named on June 22.

The selectors had no other surprises for the tournament although pacer Mohammad Asif will not take part as he remains in detention in Dubai on suspicion of carrying illegal drugs.

Pakistan squad:

Shoaib Malik (Capt), Salman Butt, Nasir Jamshed, Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Sarfraz Ahmed, Shahid Afridi, Fawad Alam, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Gul, Rao Iftikhar, Wahab Riaz, Sohail Khan, Asad Rauf, Yasir Hameed, Bazid Khan, Mansoor Amjad, Naumanullah, Saeed Ajmal.
