Important matches for Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings Today

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will face the teams who are are the number one and number two position in points table. In the first IPL match to be played today Mumbai Indians will face Kolktata Knight Riders who are placed at second position in points table. Whereas in the second game fifth seeded Chennai Super Kings will fqace Delhi Daredevils who are the numero-uno position in this years IPL points table.

For both the teams  (Chennai and Mumabi) its a must win game though Delhi and Kolkata would want to keep the winning track and not take these games likely. I am not sure if all the visitors of fans of IPL are aware of this fact or not but this is the first time Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders will be facing each other. Though there have been more than 50 games played in IPL, its the first match between two teams.

Lets see how the matches end up today but please note that results of the both matches will be crucial and decide which team will qualify for IPL 2012 play-offs.

Signing off for now, thanks for visiting this ICC Cricket blog.

Score Updates IPL Matches Today

Two matches will be played in IPL today i.e.:

1. Deccan Chargers vs Delhi Daredevils
2. Rajashtan Royals Vs Chennai Super Kings

First match between Deccan Chargers and Delhi daredevils is not of much importance and results of the match will hardly have any impact on the  points table or be decisive on which IPL team will qualify for the IPL 2012 play offs. Delhi is already certain of qualifying for the play offs and a win today will regain them the number one position in points table. Deccan on the other hand are out of the scope to qualify for the next round of the tournament and they only need to win hearts of the fans by winning the remaining matches in the tournament. Deccan surely will not want to end the IPL 2012 by remaining at the end of points table.

Now if we take at the position of both the team playing in the second IPL match today. for both the teams its a must win match. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals both have played 12 games so far and have earned 11 and 12 points respectively. Any of the team who wins the match will go to the number 4 position in points table. Thus the team winning today's match will make its way easier for reaming matches and qualifying for the IPL play offs.

Yesterday Mumbai Indians lost the match to Royal Challengers Bangalore and they now need to win at least 2 of the remaining 4 matches to qualify for the play offs. Royal Challengers Bangalore team is now looking more lethal and hopefully the team will qualify for the next round easily.

Stay tuned for more updates.

IPL Match Updates: Delhi Reaches Top & Rajashtan aims position 4 today

Yesterday Delhi Daredevils team lost the thirds match of the the IPL tournament and this defeat removed them from the number one position in points table that they have been enjoying from quiet a long time. Delhi team is now just one point behind Kolkata Knight Riders who with 17 point in 12 games are at number position. Delhi on the other hand has 16 points from 11 games, thus they have almost qualified for the IPL semi-finals.

And In IPL match today, Rajashtan Royals got a Golden chance to improve their chances to qualify for the semi-finals. A win against Pune Warriors will move Rajasthan team ot number 4 in points table ahead of Chennai and RCB, thus they can be little less under pressure in remaining games as compared to other team of IPL.  Watch all the live action from few hours from now.

Knight Riders vs Super Kings IPL Match today

A win in today's IPL T20 match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders will give the winning team an easy rider further to secure the semi final spot in the IPL 2012. Knight Riders is at number 2 position in IPL points table whereas Super Kings who are two time winner of the Indian Premier league twenty twenty championship are ranked at number 4 this season so far.

Any team who will win today will move to number second in points table behind Delhi Daredevils team who is looking confident to move to the semi finals.

Lets wait and watch the results on the only IPL match to be played today.

In the midst of IPL Ricky Ponting breaks test record

Its IPL, IPL and IPL everywhere in India and other majot cricket crazy nations. However in the midst of IPL mega events former Australian cricket team captain Ricky Ponting became the secong highest run scorer in test cricket. Playing in the test series against West Indies Ponting crossed the record which was once held by Rahul Dravid. Pontring crossed 13,288 runs in test cricket at the score of 23 and thus he is now the second highest run scorer in test matches. Since Rahul Dravid has retired from all form of international cricket Ponting is now behind to Sachin Tendulkar only. Sachin Tendulkar who is also celebrating his 39 birthday today is highest run getter in tests with 15,470 at the average of 55.44.

Ricky Ponting may have achieved a rare record but he is going in poor form in the series and has failed to get some good runs against West Indies in the ongoing series. This means that Ponting will once again be under pressure of retirement from tests.

Now lets post some updates from IPL

In the IPL two matches will be played today, first between Delhi Deardevils and Pune Warriors at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune. Last time both the team played in IPL 5 at Delhi and Pune won the match by the match winning performance of the captain Saurav Ganguly. Hopefully Delhi will be looking to take the revenge along with maintaining the top position in the IPL points table.

Second match will be played between Kolkata Night Riders and Deccan Chargers. Deccan has been quiet unlucky team to loose all the 5 matches they have played so far, few of them were close ones. Hopefully we will see Deccan team tasting the first win of the tournament today. Watch all the live score updates enjoy the T20 mela called IPL.

Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders Match Today

At home ground Kolkata failed to chase a low score of 132 against Kings XI Punjab team. Today they face the same team but at different location. Today's match IPL match between Punjab and Kolkata will be played at PCS stadium, Mohali.

Both the teams have 4 points so far in the IPL, thus a win is much needed so that the team can get the hopes of qualifying to the next round easily without having the extra pressure in the last matches of the IPL. Kings XI however will be more beneficial from a match win here as they have played one match (4) less as compared to Knight Riders (5).

I am also going to watch the IPL match today and will post match pics soon. You can keep logged in to this ICC Cricket Blog to watch the live score of the match that's updated in real time. Please also take a look at updated IPL points table.

Another interesting IPL T20 match will be played tomorrow between Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers. A win in the tomorrows match will be a strong indication that Delhi is going to play the Final of IPL T20 season 2012. And a loss for Deccan chargers means they might be out of the IPL contest and can only play for the pride and cause trouble to other teams for qualification to next round.

IPL updates: Matches, Players, Points & Live Scores

With more than one week past the IPL opening ceremony, the mega cricketing even or T20 extravaganza is now gaining momentum. So far Mumbai has maintained to being the top of the points table but I am sure next week will show lots of shuffling in the points table.

Kings XI punjab team has won only one of the 3 games they played but I think Azhar Mahmood who had previously played for Pakistan national cricket team and now is a British citizen will be joinign the Punjab team. He is cleared VISA and allowed to play in Punjab and delhi Matches. Adam Gilchrist the captian of Kings XI Punjab team said such a talented player joining the team will be helpful. Mahmood has been highest run scorer if the England domestic T20 competition.

In the match to be played today Pune Wariors will play against Chennai Super Kings, had it be last season most of us would have considered it as a one sided game and Chennai given the upper hand. However this year Pune is a different team and have won both the games they have played so far. Hopefully this IPL will bring some fame to the captain of Pune, Saurav Ganguly who has been in the media highlight for some wrong reasons. Just tune in to watch all the live action later in the day.
